Cutout Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms
Divide the dough into two equal portions, shape them into disks, and wrap in plastic wrap
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper
On a floured surface, roll out one disk of dough to about 1/4 inch thickness
Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes
Carefully transfer the cutout cookies to the prepared baking sheets, leaving a little space between each cookie
Gather the scraps, re-roll the dough, and cut out more cookies
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
Once the cookies are completely cooled, you can decorate them with icing or colored sugar, if desired
Enjoy your delicious cutout cream cheese sugar cookies
