Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy and smooth
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined
Cover the cookie dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours
Place the powdered sugar in a small bowl
Roll the chilled cookie dough into 1-inch balls, then coat each ball generously with powdered sugar
Arrange the coated cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies have crinkled and set around the edges
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
