Vegan Dumplings with Sesame Chilli Dipping Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of vegan dumpling wrappers
- 2 cups of finely chopped Napa cabbage
- 1 cup of grated carrots
- 1 cup of chopped mushrooms
- 1/2 cup of chopped green onions
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of Sriracha sauce
- 1/4 cup of toasted sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the Napa cabbage, grated carrots, chopped mushrooms, green onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, maple syrup, Sriracha sauce, and half of the toasted sesame seeds
Pour the sauce over the vegetable mixture and toss to combine
Season with salt and pepper to taste
To assemble the dumplings, place a small spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper
Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, sealing the edges to form a half-moon shape
Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
Once hot, add the dumplings in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other
Fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes
Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid
Steam the dumplings for about 5 minutes or until the wrappers become translucent and the filling is cooked through
Remove the dumplings from the skillet and sprinkle with the remaining toasted sesame seeds
For the dipping sauce, mix together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar in a small bowl
Add 1-2 teaspoons of Sriracha sauce for extra heat, if desired
Serve the vegan dumplings hot with the sesame chilli dipping sauce on the side
Enjoy
